So, confusingly for many, Hideo Kojima has both Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes on the go. Just what the hell is the difference?

Konami has released a clarification to aid you with answering that existential question and we've got it right down here. Before that though: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in Spring 2014. The boxed PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will retail at £29.99, while the digital versions will retail for £19.99. The PlayStation 4 and XboxOne digital versions will retail for £29.99. So now you know.

Right, the explanation is that both Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be released for PS3, PS4, the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Kojima explains that, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes "will introduce key gameplay components that will be fully realised in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

“There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential. As such, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game will offer.”

So, now you know.
