Apple and EA are standing toe-to-toe facing each other off over a situation that makes the games business look ever so slightly tawdry: EA is accusing Apple of paying it to delay the release of a game.Understandably not wanting to look like it pays bungs or want to be a killjoy, Apple is denying that this ever happened.
Basically, “Apple gave us a truckload of money to delay the Android version [of Plants vs Zombies 2],” was what Frank Gibeau, head of EA Labels, said at an EA 'town hall meeting' according to
GiantBomb.
GiantBomb is standing by the quote having "confirmed the quote with several sources who watched the presentation today."
Apple didn't like this and is denying the substance of the comments. In fact, says GB, "A company spokesperson described Giant Bomb's story as "not true" and said no money was exchanged."
Ouch.
