What won't the grown-ups go to war about? Well, the Japanese and the Chinese are threatening action over some uninhabited islands and the Chinese have now produced a massive online game to back-up their claim. The islands are called Diaoyu by the Chinese but the Japanese call them the Senkaku Islands. And, yes, of course there are rumours of oil being discovered beneath them. Well, China's weapon in the ongoing battle to make Japan's claim seem false is to release an update for its online game
Glorious Mission Online.
The South China Morning Post reports that, "The highlight of this update is the ‘Defend the Diaoyu Islands’ scenario,” a press release on the Glorious Mission Online site reads. “Players entering the game will fight alongside Chinese armed forces and use their weapons to tell the Japanese that ‘Japan must return our stolen territory!’”
Who says videogames are just for the kids?
