Rumour has continued to gather pace that Nintendo is poised to release an updated version of the Game Boy Advance hardware that you can actually see! An all new back-lit version, known as the Game Boy Advance Plus, the machine is said to be in the late stages of development and will include a back-light and brightness controller.
It has been highlighted that Nintendo has already successfully implemented a back-lit portable gaming machine in the past, namely the Japan only Game Boy Light. The device was light (arf!) on battery power and delivered back-lit portable gaming admirably.
The recent global price cut also adds weight to the possibility of Nintendo releasing a new machine. Nudging the price-point down to £/$60 opens a new space in the market beneath the crucial £/$100 mark.
We are of the strongest belief that you should see the Game Boy Advance Plus in-store before Christmas 2002. As ever, we’ll keep you up to date with any news on this matter.
