Deep Silver has scored the double in this week's UK Video Game Chart, as Metro: Last Light debuts in the #1 spot alongside previous top seller Dead Island: Riptide. While it's a great win for 4A Games and the work it has put into the post-apocalyptic title, number-cruncher Chart-Track has revealed that despite its top position, first week sales couldn't match that of its under-appreciated predecessor,
Metro 2033. That's despite the first game 'only' debuting in #5.
Of course,
Metro: Last Light did not see a physical PC release in the UK, opting for digital distribution. And Chart-Track still does not track sales on digital platforms - a medium that consumers in the UK are fast transitioning to. So perhaps Chart-Track's assessment is a symptom of its inability to evolve with consumers that it aims to track.
