Sonic the Hedgehog Getting 3D Classics Treatment for 3DS
How many times can you play the original Sonic the Hedgehog? Let SEGA count the ways - the Mega Drive, Saturn, PC, Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, iOS, Android... basically, almost every single platform known to man. You can add Nintendo's 3DS to that list, now.

SEGA is working on a 3D Classics version of the 16-bit original, which will include stereoscopic effects to add depth to the environments, all the bug fixes found in later revisions of the Mega Drive cartridge, the Spin Dash move, a CRT monitor emulation and a choice of using the Mega Drive 1 or 2 console sound chip.

It follows a number of classic SEGA titles that have also seen the special 3DS treatment in Japan, such as 3D Space Harrier and 3D Super Hang-On. It will cost 600 Yen and will be released to coincide with the Mega Drive's 25th Anniversary on May 15. No word on a Western release for this one.

So long as the European version isn't slowed to s**t like the Wii port was, I'll be happy.
