Europe turns its eyes on Nintendo
It has been announced that more than 45,000 ardent games-players tuned into the Nintendo webcast held on January 28. The site that hosted the broadcast quickly became overloaded, and some users were left disappointed, unable to view the webcast at all.

Nintendo of Europe's Marketing Director, David Gosen, was pleased with the results. "There is a lot of excitement and anticipation around Nintendo GameCube in Europe, and the volume of traffic on the site really illustrates this. Not only that, but around 90% of visitors were consumers, the grass roots fans who are looking forward to playing the excellent games on GameCube, with an average age above 22 years old."

An average age of 22? Just how many children knew about the webcast? And how many of those had access to the Internet?

But despite Gosen’s speech, the UK price point for the GameCube hardware, due on May 3, has still not been set. A price tag of £170 is looking increasingly likely, but there has been mention of a £200 price point despite the unit selling for 250 Euros (just over £150) in Europe.

We’ll keep you informed.
