Nintendo - which is either troubled when it comes to Wii U or not depending on which financial guesser and/or fanboy you read - is definitely in trouble in the USA with the tech underlying the 3DS.Ninty has lost a court case in the USA (
which we reported here) brought by former Sony employee Seijiro Tomita. It now owes him $30.2 million in compensatory damages. The case centred upon the glasses-free 3D tech used in the 3DS. According to Reuters.
"A federal jury in New York on Wednesday found that video game company Nintendo Co infringed an inventor's 3-D display technology patent with its handheld 3DS videogame system."
While Scott Lindvall, a lawyer defending Nintendo, stated that, "a 2003 meeting with Nintendo officials that Tomita cited in his argument was merely one of several the company held with vendors selling 3-D display technology."
Speaking on behalf Mr Tomita, however, the brilliantly named attorney Joe Diamante said, "We are thankful to the jurors for their diligence and hard work."
Nintendo is yet to comment.
