Namco Announces Film Project
Namco of Japan has revealed that it has commissioned its CG department to start work on a film, and set the release date for this summer.
The film will be based on Xevious, the groundbreaking polygon shooter from the early 1980’s that was a hit in the arcades and sold very well for home systems.
The film will follow the Xevious game story, which sees an ancient race of humans that fled the earth 10,000 years previously, return to reclaim the blue planet from its inhabitants in 2150.
Namco has stated that this project will be the first of several such film outings that the company will be undertaking this year. Let’s hope that Namco, through its partnership with SquareSoft, can avoid falling into the pit of gloom that is/was SquarePictures.
