Rare is apparently working on a top-secret, "jaw-dropping" next-generation game. Hooray! But, it's also working with Kinect on a project that takes advantage of cloud technology. Woo..?The good news, if you're looking for employment in the industry, is that Rare is hiring. For a 'Principal Network Services Engineer,' in fact. That's where all this hubbub about the studio's new project came from.
"Rare is continuing to push the boundaries of the Kinect hardware with our exciting new project. This role will involve you working as part of the Cloud Services engineering team in order to develop and deliver Cloud Services for our current and future products. As part of your role, you will be required to work closely with Artists, Designers, Producers and Program Managers," reads the
job listing.
"As a Principal, you may also be expected to undertake some elements of leadership including mentoring other engineers and helping drive the direction of Cloud Services in our future titles."
Another job post for a 'Gameplay Engineer' makes mention of "working with extremely early prototype hardware" on a "jaw-dropping, never-been-done-before Rare project." So, that's a game for next Xbox we're talking about. Could it be the same project, or two different ones? Guess we'll find out soon enough.
