Nintendo poised for Zelda Cell-shade U-turn?
When the tentatively titled Legend of Zelda for GameCube was first shown at SpaceWorld last year, the game got a mixed reception from the gathered crowd. Presented in cartoon-style cell-shaded graphics, the new look of the game seemed to outrage certain elements of the Zelda fan-base.

Recently Nintendo hosted a poll for gamers to tell the company which style of Zelda they prefer: the new ‘toon shading’ style, a more traditional fantasy style, or just ‘who cares!?’ GIVE ME ZELDA!!

At the time of going to press, 71.9% of respondents stated that they would prefer to see Zelda presented in a fantasy style. Only 8.89% preferred the cell-shaded option. A further 19.11% said that they don’t care.

This poll might just be the first sign of Nintendo changing its mind as to the presentation of one of its biggest GameCube properties. Why else would the company poll the public? And if the results stabilise at current levels, will Nintendo have any choice other than to make changes to the game?

Whatever happens, you will be the first to know.
