Several new details have emerged from Square HQ regarding the much-talked about MMORPG Final Fantasy XI.
The side-quests that made previous games in the series so popular will be included and in unlimited form. Completion of these tasks will reward players with valuable items and give them clues as to the next course of action to take in the main game.
Magic spells will be purchased through the use of shops, rather than gaining battle experience and ability points, a system rarely seen in Final Fantasy games.
Intriguingly, players expressing a feeling of emotion or an action when discussing online will see their own character performing the appropriate gesture in the game. Inputting the commands ‘point’ and ‘clap’ will have the character model do just that.
Regardless of whatever details emerge from now until the Final Fantasy XI release, the proof is always in the pudding. And for that, the UK will have to wait quite some time, possibly even until 2003.
On the Final Fantasy X front, Squaresoft has just announced sales of one million units in North America.
Tune in next time for more RPG delights.
