Apple Unveils iPad Mini, Along With iPad 4
The rumour mill couldn't sniff out all of Apple's announcements.
Apple added another product to its line-up of must-have gadgets last night, after officially unveiling the iPad Mini. While whispers of a 7.9-inch tablet device had been doing the rounds for some time, there was an extra announcement that nobody saw coming - a fourth-generation 9.7-inch iPad.
Specifications for the iPad Mini have been compared to that of the iPad 2 - it sports a resolution of 1,024x768, a 5MP camera with FaceTime front-facing lens, and Apple's A5 processor. Crucially, the smaller form factor has not resulted in a resolution change, meaning no work is required on the part of developers to make their apps work on the device.
The iPad Mini will hit UK shores on November 2nd and will start at £269 for the 16GB model.
Meanwhile, the "iPad 4" will be largely the same as its six-month-old predecessor, with the only noticeable difference being the inclusion of the brand new A6X chip. That makes it twice as fast as the "iPad 3". That launches on the same day as the Mini, with prices starting at £399.
