Nintendo makes initial online move
Looks like you may be able to buy a game online, but will you be able to play it online?
Nintendo Europe has penned a deal with Magic Software to license eDeveloper, valued at around $250,000. The new technology is the first move Nintendo has made towards making firm online commitments in any region, and is geared towards enabling GameCube users to make purchases online.
Initially geared towards the Italian market, the solution will become the mainstay of a complete online order and tracking application.
Nintendo of Europe GmbH Information Systems manager Akihiko Matsuo said, "We selected Magic eDeveloper because its open and scalable technology will allow us to offer business services and collaborate online with our customers."
Nintendo is still to make a firm commitment to online gaming and general GameCube Internet use.
