Sony has made the changes that will have many PlayStation 3 and Vita users - and as importantly potential consumers cheering in the virtual and real streets. Yes, PlayStation Store has been rebuilt in HTML 5.
The most obvious change is one of look and feel: the store front looks much, much less as if it was written in 2005 now. For example, it will actually use the entire screen with UI scaling dependent on display resolution.
Also changed - thank the gods of buying things - is the search and meta-data used to search for products. Forget the clunky on-screen keyboard, the system now uses an Xbox LIVE-a-like system of letter scrolling, with the system being able to recognise partial words and also misspellings.
The new store goes live in Europe on Wednesday October 17th and in the USA on October 23rd.
