Sony surprised a number of fans when it announced that third-party characters such as Dante and Raiden were going to feature in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. But, developer SuperBot had a shock of its own when Irrational's Ken Levine offered to write the entire script for BioShock's Big Daddy and Little Sister characters.SuperBot's Omar Kendall explained that the studio was very adamant about respecting the IP of other companies, and this led to a close working relationship with multiple third parties. In the case of Big Daddy and Little Sister, however, Levine was more than happy to collaborate a little bit more.
"We worked really closely with Irrational on the development and getting Big Daddy and Little Sister into the game," Kendall told
Polygon. "But when it came to the script writing, Ken Levine, who is the creative director at Irrational, actually took over writing duties and wrote every line of script and dialogue for Big Daddy and Little Sister in the game.
"To me, it sort of speaks to the respect and acknowledgement we have for the IP holders. We take this very seriously, and sometimes the IP holders know best, and obviously we want to present the characters in the best way for the developers and the fans."
