Nintendo Announces TVii for American Wii U Release
Nintendo will be introducing a new way to watch TV using the Wii U in North America. Nintendo TVii is an application that will allow Wii U users (Wii Users?) to access Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon streaming content, as well as their TiVo player.

The Wii U GamePad tablet will be used as a controller to navigate through menus and purchased content. Personalised search, user profiling and second-screen support will be features available using the touch screen.

Nintendo confirmed that the TVii service will be free, and included within every edition of the Wii U console without a monthly fee. It is, without a doubt, an answer to Microsoft's push towards making its Xbox 360 an entertainment hub for all kinds of media beyond video games.

TVii looks like it's going to be a launch application when the console hits the US, on November 18. It was announced on the US edition of the Nintendo Direct video conference. No word on whether the service will appear on European consoles.
