Samus is not amused. Retro Studios, following a substantial cash injection from Nintendo, announced that it had won the rights to resurrect Metroid Prime, a first-person-shooter based on the NES and SNES classic platform-shooters.
The game is known to have gone massively over budget and forced Retro to abruptly end all its other development programs, including the tentatively named Football and Car Combat and the 50% complete Raven Blade, all for GameCube.
These projects were cancelled on direct orders from Nintendo HQ as it thought that one of its biggest titles, Metroid Prime, was not progressing at the pace expected. In another blow to the chances of the hotly anticipated title being released before the next ice age, it transpires that a new senior programmer is now needed.
The advertised job description is as follows: At Retro Studios, Senior Game Programmers will be developing and programming premier games for the Nintendo GameCube. Senior Programmers will utilise advanced 3D rendering, graphics, physics and optimisation knowledge to write high-quality, performance-optimised code, review other programmers' work for quality and performance, and establish the technical direction of the project. Senior Programmers will work with other programmers in a large team-oriented environment and utilise excellent technical problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills in performing assigned tasks.
Maybe Retro should advertise for a Miracle Worker too.
