gamescom 2012: Ubisoft Brings Anno and Silent Hunter to Browsers
Ubisoft has announced that two more of its PC-specific IPs have made the jump from boxed-game stagnation to a brighter, browser-based future. Anno Online and Silent Hunter Online will bring RTS and submarine simulation to the casual market.

Silent Hunter Online is perhaps the most interesting of the two to make the jump, with Ubisoft declaring that the "simulation meets strategy" combination makes the game stand out from all other browser-based games.

The main screen displays a myriad of different sub controls, with the periscope relaying the battle of the Atlantic as you (and others) duke it out. A dynamic online campaign and the ability to create wolfpacks with friends are promised as key features.

Anno Online complements the earlier launch of The Settlers Online to browsers, and is a statement of intent from Ubisoft. The franchise is just about the biggest name in the company's PC arsenal, after all. It's apparently a 'full scale' Anno game, and not a watered down bitesize title. Fans can head to the official website to register for beta access.
