SquareSoft Europe has announced that it will be releasing Final Fantasy Anthology in the UK later this year.
In news that will amaze, delight and confuse fans in equal measure, Square has declared that it will release the PSOne title in March, following prolonged and dogged lobbying from the series’ huge fan-base.
The set includes FF5 and FF6 and doesn’t possess any gameplay improvements over the SNES originals, but the video game CG experts have put enough time and effort into the games to produce some lovely FMV introductions and cut-scenes. As superfluous as this feature may seem to be, it does tell the two stories much better than the SNES releases could.
The release will consolidate the release of Final Fantasy X for PlayStation 2 and if successful, will most likely lead to a PAL release of Final Fantasy Tactics.
