Work on New Final Fantasy XIII Game Has Just Begun
Likely to be announced at Anniversary event.
Square Enix has begun work on a third Final Fantasy XIII game, producer Yoshinori Kitase has revealed. Formal details about the game - including its actual name - will be announced on September 1st.
Kitase told Japanese magazine Famitsu that work on the game has only just started, adding weight to the idea that we could be seeing news on a Final Fantasy XIII-3 sooner than Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
Full details on the game's identity and what it will feature will be presented in a month's time through the "Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Saga: New Developments Presentation". It could coincide with the Final Fantasy 25th anniversary event in Shibuya that starts later this month.

Orly? I was kind of suspecting this piece of crap would see the light of day. It's pointless- the cast of XIII was weak, the cast of XIII-2 was even weaker and now Square is bent on sucking the last of the life out of the franchise with this game. Dammit!
Hoping Versus shows up at the TGS and that it brings back deep stories and characters. I can live without the airship, the world map, even Chocobos and moogles (but maybe not Bahamut, heh)! Just give me characters like the deep and feeling ones in earlier games, not more of these vapid characters (not many care that a kid's mother FELL TO HER DEATH IN FRONT OF HIM because he was so poorly written and the situation was so poorly handled. This is so ridiculous, Square has pulled "mother dies right in front of X" before *koffRydiakoffGarnetkoff*). That was the strongest part of the games, now we have to put up with characters that it's really hard to care for. We had this problem pretty much since the first FFX (yes, this INCLUDES X-2, I couldn't keep playing after five minutes!) and the only good games out of Square after X were the Kingdom Hearts games (yes, even Days and Coded had their good points, although Coded was mostly in fun gameplay (which XIII also lacked); the story was crap) and The World Ends with You.
Stop wasting time with this crappy universe, Square. It's going to cost you, possibly your business, and may leave us gamers without Versus and Kingdom Hearts 3. Which is very sad as those games alone may have fixed the hole in your treasury. Maybe throw in a WEWY 2 for good measure. I'm not sure if I'd really want it, but there are people out here that'd be psyched for one. /rant
