A few months ago, pushing a AAA game back to February 2013 to avoid the Call of Duty and Halo 4 storm seemed like a good idea. Today, it's sounding like the worst idea in the world. According to a report, Microsoft is lining up its next blockbuster Gears of War game, Judgment, for release that very month.CVG is citing a "publishing source" that spilled the February 2013 launch window, but no firm North American or European dates were given.
Gears of War: Judgment is a prequel to the blockbuster Xbox 360 trilogy and will focus on series regulars Damon Baird and Augustus 'Cole Train' Cole. It's being developed by
Bulletstorm studio People Can Fly and an in-house team at Epic Games. And it's probably going to obliterate everything else in the Q1 2013 release window.
For its part, Microsoft has released a statement that neither confirms or denies the supposed release. "We have not made any announcements updating launch timing for
Gears of War: Judgment beyond early 2013. Stay tuned for new details about
Gears of War: Judgment to be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, July 12-15."
