It's possible that you've forgotten that Activision and Blizzard are merely, as Activision/Blizzard, a subsidiary of French media giant Vivendi. That would be a mistake. As a subsidiary, ActiBlizz can be sold, and apparently this is under discussion.According to Bloomberg, June 22 is the date set for the French company to discuss the possible sale of Activision/Blizzard. Although the piece is a little confused over whether the sale would be of Activision Publishing or Activision/Blizzard or both.
The piece states that, "The main scenario to be discussed is a sale of part or all of Vivendi’s 61 percent stake in Activision, the maker of
Call of Duty with a market value of $13.4 billion, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the meeting is private. Vivendi has met with investors in the past weeks to discuss options, one of them being a spinoff of pay-TV unit Canal Plus, which is 20 percent owned by Lagardere SCA (MMB), said one person."
This is not an extraordinary meeting however, "a Vivendi spokesman said the executive meeting is an annual gathering that has taken place since 2005."
