We all know that Nintendo's new Wii U system will feature an array of social networking technology, but NoA president Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that messages and notes between friends will not be limited to the console boot screen. New Super Mario Bros. U will be just one game to take advantage of the system's interactivity.
Did you say New Super Mario Bros. U? Yep, that tech demo you saw at last year's E3 showcase ended up being a real game. And as a 2D platformer, it looks pretty damn fun, bringing back the simultaneous four-player action that you remember from New Super Mario Bros. Wii while adding new Wii U GamePad features.
Messages from other Wii U players will appear on the game's world map, as you fight your way through the stages to beat Bowser silly.
Alongside other new gameplay features like a Wombat Cape and new dinosaurs (which look a lit like tired Yoshis, allowing characters to float upwards), a fifth player can grab a Wii U GamePad and touch the tablet screen to place bricks within stages to help Wii Remote users to get to the end of the stage. It's all for enhanced speedruns, baby.
