Nintendo formally unveiled Pikmin 3 at its E3 press conference, headlining the first-party lineup of its upcoming Wii U console.
The Wii U GamePad can be used completely on its own to control the game, with the touch screen showing a top-down map of the entire game world. Effectively, you can interact with the game world and place Pikmin wherever you like, a bit like an RTS game.
This time around you will be controlling four different spacemen leaders, to split tasks. Captain Olimar is not included within this lineup - the reason why, Shigeru Miyamoto, is a secret. You can check the status of all four leaders on the GamePad.
A new challenge mode - where you need to collect as much fruit as possible in a given time limit - and a brand new purple Rock Pikmin will be included, and the Wii Remote and Nunchuk combo can be used to directly target enemy eyes and walls to break down environments around you.
Looks absolutely fantastic. We can't wait to see more.
