We now have reason to believe that the video games industry is directly tied to the weather. As soon as the sun comes out and makes our country hotter than the Mediterranean, a slew of new game releases hit the shelves in an attempt to keep potential beach-goers indoors. At the top of this pile is Ubisoft's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, claiming the #1 spot on the UK Video Game Chart.According to compilers UKIE GfK ChartTrack, the latest Tom Clancy shooter claims the best week-one sales figure in the entire
Ghost Recon series. It's the first to hit multiple platforms at the same time, though, so there is that.
Other high-flyers in the new-release pile include Capcom's
Dragon's Dogma, which has likely hit #3 due in no small part to its
amazing title theme. It couldn't quite knock Rockstar's
Max Payne 3 off of its new #2 position. Codies'
DiRT Showdown debuts at #4, while Nintendo's
Mario Tennis Open on 3DS sits outside the Top 10 at #11.
