Looks like the gothic cat's out of the bag - Konami is working on a sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for the Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Vita, as well as a 3DS-exclusive 2D action platformer. That's according to a report by the
Paul Gale Network, which spilled a number of beans about the 3DS-specific title, called
Castlevania: Mirror of Fate. It's been in development for about a year and a half, features two playable characters and, as a result, co-op play. The 3DS' front camera is used as a mirror, while the back camera is used to solve puzzles.
Konami was once developing a Wii U version of
Mirror of Fate to interact with the 3DS version, but canned it in favour of a Wii U version of Lords of Shadow 2 instead. But, this version will be "different" to the PS3 and Xbox 360 iterations, in order to "retain some of its originally intended plans... including some 3DS connectivity."
Sounds nice. We're stoked about a new 2D
Castlevania, and have high hopes that a Lords of Shadow sequel will
impress more than the original did back in 2010. Both games are said to be on show at E3, so stay tuned to see if the statements in the report comes to pass.
