Some bad news for SEGA fans everywhere - SPOnG has heard word that Bayonetta 2 has been cancelled, following the publisher's ongoing restructure.
A source familiar with the situation has told SPOnG that progress on the apparent Platinum Games sequel was halted. The game was to include a new character, in the form of a member of the US military.
While it was not possible to ascertain from our source if Bayonetta 2 had begun development internally, the detail of a potential new character would suggest that plans were at least in a pre-production design stage.
SEGA announced a dramatic restructuring of its Western consumer business last month, following a dismal performance in the last fiscal year. Redundancies hit both the European and American offices, and a number of titles were said to be cancelled internally.

And Bayonetta is in no way feminist. She was designed the way she was designed for boys to drool over her. HOWEVER, it was all done in a tongue-in-cheek way and so purposefully over the top that it made it more digestible than, say, the DOA girls.

For anyone that liked the first game as much as I did, I created a petition in regards to this. I personally think that Bayonetta was the best action game of this generation. I think it would be really stupid of Sega to do this to such a great franchise. Hideki Kamiya can't make sequel worthy games anymore. That's why Capcom fired him. I loved Bayonetta. She was a lot like Dante. I like Raiden too but he's a lot like Dante. Platinum's repeating the same dumb s**t that was never triple A in the 1st place and they're suffering for it. New character in B2? How? It's her name! Big bosses & no coherent story doesn't equal great sales. I saw this coming when Platinum went to Konami

I'm mad I went to Gamestop & preordered Anarchy Reigns and the next week it was TBC. I knew I should have preordered DmC. It'll probably suck but probably not as bad as this would have. Sega never had good games. Every new Sonic game I played sucked. What are they gonna do when their die hard genesis fans finally get tired of the hedgehog? They gonna publish s**t from Ninja Theory next? What's the point of leaving Capcom for your own Game studio if a Publisher keeps all your s**t anyway? Could've made DMC5 with Nero Vergil & Bayonetta and got the backing he needed at Capcom.
