UK Video Game Charts: Prototype 2 vs Witcher 2

The UK video games charts - via Gfk Chart Track are in - the Top 10 of the All Format's chart is spattered with sequels and brand extenders. Activision's frankly a bit yawny [PROTOTYPE2] is at the #1 spot taking over from The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, which drops to #6.

So, let's have a quick look at the Sequels:

Gfk says the following:

"[Prototype 2] becomes Activision Blizzard’s first All Formats No1 of the year. Having launched on Tuesday it gets a slight head start, however it can’t quite match the first week sales of the original, which came out back in June 2009.

"Sales are split 63% on Xbox 360 and 37% on PS3, which is very similar to the original’s 62% on Xbox 360, 36% PS3 and 2% PC. [Prototype 2] outdoes previous No1s ‘Kinect Star Wars’ and ‘The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – Enhanced Edition’, but can’t match fellow chart topper ‘FIFA Street’ for week 1 sales. EA’s footballing double act ‘FIFA Street’ (-17%) and ‘FIFA 12’ (-5%) are non-movers at No2 and No3 respectively, while ‘Mass Effect 3’ (-6%) and ‘Kinect Star Wars’ (-22%) swap places at No’s 4 and 5. Last week’s No1 ‘The Witcher 2’ (-73%) falls to No6, ahead of 2 more EA titles ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13’ (-12%) at No7 and ‘Battlefield 3’ (-21%) at No8. ‘Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games’ (-5%) remains at No9, while ‘Saints Row: The Third’ (+15%) sneaks back into the Top 10 at No10.

"Other than [Prototype 2] there are no new releases that make the Top 40 this week."
