Oh thank God! We were really hoping that someone would pick up the distribution rights to the Silent Hill: Revelation film. Thankfully our prayers have been answered - Open Road Film has revealed that it's picked up the upcoming horror sequel and lining it up for an October 26 theatre release. The cheeky US launch date is not only appropriate for the Hallowe'en season, but also pits it against Paramount's fourth entry in the
Paranormal Activity series, which is released a week before. There's good reason for this too - the first
Silent Hill film earned nearly $100 million, and is largely considered to be one of the best game-to-movie adaptations to date.
Silent Hill: Revelation 3D will be directed by Michael J Bassett (of
Solomon Kane fame) and will see the return of stars Sean Bean, Deborah Kara Unger and Radha Mitchell alongside new characters played by Adelaide Clemens (
X-Men: First Class) and Kit Harington (
Game of Thrones).
