Capcom Releases Zombies to Celebrate Resident Evil Launch

Thankfully, no casualties were reported.

Capcom decided to launch Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City in a rather unique style last week - by unleashing an army of zombies onto the unsuspecting London populace. How are people supposed to play your games, Capcom, if they're all mindless brain-hungry minions of the undead? That's not really using your collective noodle.

Actually, the zombies were actors. Fancy that. It was all part of an 'augmented reality zombie experience' that gamers had a chance to participate in. Teams armed with a special mobile phone app followed orders around specific areas of London town and would use their smartphones to fire at the shuffling monsters that chased them.

Similar experiences in Bristol and Manchester were also held. All of the participants were said to have lots of fun, which is jolly good. It's not often you have a pleasant experience dealing with zombies.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City was released on Friday, and reached #2 in the UK Video Game Chart this morning.

The sad thing is this event would of had more gameplay substance than Operation Racoon city itself held in the entire campaign.
