The 'Next Gen' video game machine debate is going from hot to hotter with Capcom USA senior vice president Christian Svensson has been offering his company's opinion on what's coming up.

He's not looking at consoles thoug. "The networks in general are going to become increasingly important to the future of our content offerings," he tells GamaSutra, "and the services we offer around them. I think you'll see continued migration to games as a service, and increasingly less discrete products.

I'll tell you something I'm hoping for. I'm hoping for a much more fluid means of providing updates to consumers, being able to have a much more rapid turnaround in between when content is submitted and when content goes live to consumers, to provide a higher level of service to them. I'm hoping that the networking and the processes in the future are built with that in mind."

As for current tech, and the PlayStation Vita specificially, Capcom has been more impressed and is waiting for the hardware to take off, "We obviously will continue to support it, it's too early to call one way or the other. I'll say our sell-through has been reasonably decent. I wish that retail had been a little bit more supportive of the platform from the outset. But I think they're getting in line now that they're actually starting to see some sales. The holidays are going to be much more telling for Vita. The holiday was where the 3DS first solidified."
