How's that Skyrim on your PlayStation 3 treating you? What's that? Cruddy memory situation? Oh, Bethesda knew all about that. Director Todd Howard admitted as such at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas last week, but thought that only "a small percentage" of PS3 users would be affected."The way our dynamic stuff and our scripting works, it's obvious it gets in situations where it taxes the PS3," Howard explained. "And we felt we had a lot of it under control. But for certain users it literally depends on how they play the game, varied over a hundred hours and literally what spells they use. Did they go in this building? [And so on.]"
He then went on to say that his developers knew that they were going to have a "bad memory situation" with the PS3 version of the game and tried to prevent that from happening as much as possible. Since the game's release, Bethesda has released a number of patches to satisfy angry gamers. But Bethesda's not resting on its laurels.
"Now that we've been through this we're not naïve enough to say 'we have seen everything', because we have to assume we haven't," he added, asking players to send the studio their saved games if they run into any more issues.
