Right Wing Media in Massively Positive Video Game Story
Wow. Really, following playwrite Lucy Prebble's massive praise of video games in her article for the slightly left-of-centre newspaper The Observer on Sunday we were expecting a right-wing backlash. Not so much.

Today's right-wing bible The Daily Telegraph features an article from its assistant comment editor Tom Chivers carries an article entitled, "Are video games carnivals of savagery, or works of art?". Bearing in mind that the Torygraph is often read by 111 year-old, ex-civil servants when they are not hunting foxes and small children, the pay-off paragraph is a shocker.

"Of course people can play games too much, just as they can watch TV too much. There are bad games, just as there are dreadful books. And there are games that are unsuitable for children – which have 18 certificates, just like horror films. But the art form is near-infinite in its variety, socially engaging, mentally stimulating, and steeped in creativity and fun. Especially when you’ve just shot your flatmate in the head with a sniper rifle."

Blimey. Full thing here.
