Tim Schafer and Markus Persson in Psychonauts 2 Talks
Positive talks, although all "extremely vague" at the moment.
Notch and Schafer, sitting in a tree... K.I.S.S.I.N.G. The Minecraft creator, aka Markus Persson, has offered to personally fund the development of a sequel to Tim Schafer's Psychonauts. And it all began on Twitter.
Schafer recently told Digital Spy that his studio, Double Fine Productions, had pitched a Psychonauts 2 concept to publishers "several times" but nobody wanted it. Except for gamers, of course. Enter Persson, who reads said article and writes on Twitter, "Let's make Psychonauts 2 happen." He later followed up with, "Also, I'm serious."
Today, Persson confirmed that the two were in talks on Twitter. "Me and [Tim Schafer] are talking to each other via email, and he's cool with me saying whatever I want about it. He's, like, super awesome," he writes, before adding "Anyway, please don't get your hopes too high yet. Everything is extremely vague."
We can only cross our fingers and dream.
