While EA has confirmed reports from yesterday that its Online Pass will play a part in SSX, the company has stated that you won't need to have it to access online modes. Credits earned in online modes will only be awarded to players who have the pass, however. In a statement made to Game Informer, an EA spokesperson confirmed, "In
SSX, players without an Online Pass are able to compete and play in both of SSX's online game modes, Explore and Global Events with no restrictions.
"In Global Events, the top finishers from each event are awarded with in-game credits. These in-game credits earned during play will not be awarded to the player if they do not have an Online Pass; these credits will be stored so that at any time, if a player redeems an Online Pass code, all the credits that they had previously earned in Global Events will be immediately awarded to them."
While credits are used to access in-game content, the spokesperson confirmed that it will be possible to gather enough of them in the single-player mode to get at everything on the disc.
It was confirmed yesterday that the Online Pass would have a part to play in
SSX by a screen grab posted yesterday by
