Think the new Xbox 360 Dashboard makes it easier to find content? Tell that to indie developer Mommy's Best Games (of Serious Sam: Double D fame), who has taken to releasing a title mocking the inability for the console interface to effectively find Xbox Live Indie Games.
It's called 'Game Type,' and its thumbnail sports a picture of a hooded woman performing a jump kick - a generic picture that's just good enough for Microsoft to place on its Game Marketplace front page. Oh, the irony. Costing 80 Microsoft Points, the game is a co-op side-scrolling shooter - but the trailer appears to make a lot of fun of the Xbox Dashboard as well.
In a mock press release on the company's website, lead designer Nathan Fouts said, "I've been thrilled Microsoft created the special Dashboard tile just for our game. It's such a terrible name which I created as a placeholder while starting the project.
"With the incongruous stock photo of a woman in a hoodie doing a jump-kick, and the forgettable 'Game Type' title, it's good to know Microsoft was advertising our poorly-named game, and not trying to label the console's entire digital game storefront. Otherwise, it'd be a horrible match that would simply make no sense and generally lead fewer gamers to find the store and browse on their own terms."
