Konami of America has declared that Metal Gear 2: The Sons of Liberty is one of the fastest selling games of all time. The company readied a million copies for retail launch and estimates it sold over 90%
"We're thrilled with the business that Metal Gear Solid 2 has done in its first two weeks on store shelves,'' said Dick Wnuk, the excellently-named Executive Vice-President of Konami of America. "Re-orders were coming in from the retail level by the end of the first day of sales. We knew that there was going to be a huge demand for the new Metal Gear, but even we have been surprised by the overwhelming reaction from gamers across North America.''
Konami estimates that it has now shifted a whopping 1.8 million units, a figure it predicts will increase considerably over the coming weekend.
MGS 2 is due out in March in Europe.
