Square Enix already has a number of its classic games available on iOS, but this Christmas it will have something extra special for fans to enjoy. Chrono Trigger, widely regarded as the greatest RPG ever made, is coming to iPhone and iPod Touch devices in December.
The game was originally released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1995. It saw a PSOne re-release in 1999 in Japan (2001 in North America), but it wasn't until 2009 that Europeans got their first official taste of the game on the Nintendo DS.
Although notable with its lack of iPad variant, the iPhone and iPod Touch version of Chrono Trigger still looks like a faithful, enjoyable role playing experience. You can see an example of how touch controls have been implemented into the game via the screenshot above.
Exact release dates and pricing have not yet been announced by Square Enix, but Final Fantasy III was just released on the iTunes Store for iPhone and iPod Touch this week at a price point of £10.99, so perhaps we may see something similar.
