Activision is making headway in a different kind of battle today, as the company reveals that it has banned more than 1600 players for cheating in Modern Warfare 3.It seems that Infinity Ward's latest blockbuster is ridden with the same sort of exploits and bugs that hampered the experience of Modern Warfare 2's online multiplayer. Cheaters are taking advantage of such exploits to ensure victory.
Community and ad-hoc marketing man Robert Bowling tweeted that "any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued," adding that the length of the ban will be dependant on the "douchiness of the offence."
One such glitch, according to a report on
PCR, allows players to get "under" the map while still being able to shoot enemies. We're not quite sure how something like that manages to get through QA, but the studio has promised a fix for it all and has asked players to stay diligent in its reporting of foul play.
