Electronic Arts' call to arms has paid off this week, as DICE's shooter Battlefield 3 shoots its way to the top of the UK Video Game Charts. It's kicked Warner Bros' Batman: Arkham City down to second place and shuffled a lot of chart positions around to boot.
According to GfK Chart-Track, Battlefield 3 has become the 10th biggest week-one seller in UK history. That counts for something, but even more astonishing is that sales of this new iteration has reportedly outsold week-one figures for every single previous release in the series. Blimey.
The fallout of DICE's reign is that plenty of games get pushed down the chart a little bit, with Forza Motorsport 4 and Rage seeing the biggest falls in the Top 10. Activision's imaginative take on toy collecting, Skylanders, debuts at #9 this week.
