Rocksmith Delayed in Europe to 2012

Ubisoft advises against importing the game from the US.

Bad news for those who want to rock on real guitars - your only outlet for creativity, Ubisoft's Rocksmith, has been delayed in Europe to an unspecified date in 2012. And the publisher is making it incredibly difficult to consider importing the game elsewhere.

In a message on the official Rocksmith Facebook page, the push back is due to "music licensing and other external factors." It added that the Xbox 360 version of the game is region locked, the PlayStation 3 version doesn't support PAL in the slightest, and the PSN DLC store is also restricted by region. Therefore, importing is something that you should do "at your own risk."

To be fair, these decisions may also have something to do with the music industry tightening its knickers over licensing rights. You'd think the stubborn industry would learn to be a bit more consumer friendly by now, after having its arse handed to it by Apple's iTunes Store. But them's the breaks.

Of course, if you already have a real guitar prepped in anticipation of Rocksmith, you could always... well... play the guitar. There are books out there, and things.

It's not exactly the music industry that are behind it. The name Rocksmith is a registered name to a band from the southeast of England, and it is as far as I remember, the drummer who owns the name (may be wrong about that) and he has started the legal action against Ubisoft using the name and quite rightly too as they have been using it for around 8 years now.

Ridiculous.

The bemulleted t**ts should be grateful for the free publicity.
