Epic Games announced Infinity Blade II last night at Apple's iPhone 4S reveal conference last night in Cupertino, showcasing graphics and features that will "take full advantage of the processing power" of the latest range of iOS devices.
Surprised that Epic is focusing on a sequel to a mobile phone game? Don't be - the studio recently told the world that the original Infinity Blade made more than a staggering $10 million in sales. Suddenly, this makes a world of sense.
The upcoming iPhone 4S will pack in the same powerful A5 system-on-a-chip that turns the cogs inside the iPad 2, and this is allowing Epic subsidiary Chair Entertainment to "push the boundaries of everything achieved to date and add a ton of new content and unique new features." That's the exclamation of Chair's boss Donald Mustard.
Infinity Blade II will also be one of the first games to take advantage of iCloud, with game saves and profiles transferred seamlessly between multiple iOS devices. How long have we all been waiting for this? Best news ever.
Epic's head honcho Mike Capps noted on stage that the graphical quality of the game rivalled that of home console platforms - and it does certainly look very nice indeed. You can see for yourself in the trailer below.
