There are reports surfacing from America that the Nintendo GameCube has sold out after just three days on sale in the American market.
Nintendo of America readied 700,000 console units for launch and reports at this stage are indicating that the Japanese games giant has shifted this amount in the machine’s first availability slot.
These figures have yet to be confirmed by Nintendo, but a sell out seems likely, especially when you consider that it has been almost impossible to buy a GameCube in America, since the early hours of Sunday morning.
The American console market has been up for grabs, ever since the latest generation of platforms were announced. It seems that Nintendo is easing into a comfortable second place with its GameCube console, lying confidently behind Sony’s PlayStation 2 and well ahead of Microsoft’s Xbox.
We will have exact retail sales figures when they are released later this week.
