Everyone's favourite butchered franchise now has a release date. Syndicate, Starbreeze's... 'interpretation' of the classic strategy game, will be available on February 21st 2012 in North America and February 24th in Europe. Hooray. You may note the sarcasm.
EA is aiming “to provide a challenging action shooter for today’s gamers as well as fans of the original.” It's an interesting approach considering that pretty much no-one wanted Syndicate as yet another generic FPS. On hearing that Syndicate was coming back, most gamers hopped up and down excitedly thinking that it'd the glorious return of one of the finest strategy titles of the early 90s. Starbreeze, we are disappoint.
Anyway, should you feel the need for yet another futuristic shooter with a no-doubt gritty storyline and some stealthy bits, roll on next February. Who knows? They may bundle the original game in there somewhere as an unlockable or release it as a downloadable title. We can but dream.
