The UK Video Games All Format Chart (from UKIE and Gfk Chart-Track) this week has one surprise this week, that's the over-turning of the idea that single-format titles can hit the top spot. Gears of War 3 (Xbox 360 only) has beaten out F1 2011 (360, PS3 and PC) to grab the ultimate sales prize.
In terms of numbers Gears 3 is the best-selling launch of 2011 so far. It's also the seventh most humungous Xbox 360 launch in history in the UK.
In fact, sales were so impressive on week one that this final iteration of the trilogy has almost outsold week one sales of Gears 1 and 2 put together.
