Ninja Theory, the developer behind Capcom's upcoming DmC reboot project, has confirmed that it's not working on a sequel to last year's Enslaved.Speaking to
Edge, studio co-founder Tameem Antoniades noted that, "
Enslaved should have done better. Right now we should have been doing a sequel and perfecting that sequel and doing what franchises do, which is get better over time.
"[But] because that didn't happen we've not expanded to two teams like we intended to. So we've remained a smaller shop. But now we get another chance with
DmC."
Earlier in the year Antoniades spoke damningly about the "stranglehold that the AAA retail model has", citing American marketing failure as a prime reason for
Enslaved's failure to attract more sales.
While the game was a critical darling, it failed to meet commercial expectations.
