Japanese Video Game Chart: Monster Hunting Cats Rule
Monster Hunter’s power knows no bounds in the Land of the Rising Sun, as Capcom’s feline spinoff Poka Poka Airu Village takes the top spot in this week’s Japanese Video Game Chart (courtesy Media Create, week ending 14th August 2011). Its presence gives the PSP a hardware sales boost as well.

1 Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airu Village – Capcom (PSP) – 98,269 / NEW
2 Super Pokemon Rumble – Nintendo (3DS) – 86,294 / NEW
3 Rhythm Heaven for Everyone – Nintendo (Wii) – 63,590
4 Atsumete! Kirby – Nintendo (DS) – 52,173
5 Uta no Prince-sama: Sweet Serenade Repeat – Broccoli (PSP) – 32,180 / NEW
6 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D – Nintendo (3DS) – 31,772
7 J-League Pro Soccer Club wo Tsukurou! 7 EURO PLUS – SEGA (PSP) – 30,291
8 Trico Gourmet Survival! – Namco Bandai (PSP) – 28,147
9 Wii Sports Resort with Wii Motion Plus – Nintendo (Wii) – 20,254
10 Disney Epic Mickey – Nintendo (Wii) – 15,536

With the 3DS selling like hot Japanese buns, it makes sense that there are a couple of games for the handheld taking position in the Top 10. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D sticks around, but the debut of Super Pokemon Rumble is received very well as it lands at #2 with over 85,000 units sold.

The only other new entry to hit the Top 10 is a visual novel for the PSP with a rather strange-sounding name. Find romance with girls who have massive coloured jewels for eyes, or something. There’s a trailer here. Enjoy it.
