It's little wonder now why EA's European Publishing SVP Jens Uwe Intat praised Gamescom as "much bigger and better" than E3 - the company has picked up several awards for best games at the trade show.
DICE's Battlefield 3 came out on top as the overall winner of 'Best of Gamescom,' and quite deservedly too after having seen the thing in action. FIFA 12 curiously won the 'Best Console Game' award, while BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic earned 'Best Online Game,' even though development started a Long Time Ago, in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. The Sims Social grabbed 'Best Browser Game.'
Electronic Arts, it should be noted, is a massive supporter of Gamescom; and no doubt these awards are well earned through hard graft and brilliantly crafted games that aren't finished yet really. Yep.
Sony's PlayStation Vita, Blizzard's Diablo III and Double Fine's Sesame Street game were also big winners in Cologne this week. Full list below.
