Resistance was inevitably going to appear on Sony's new PlayStation Vita in some form, but at the company's Gamescom press conference tonight, the world saw its first glance at such a project.
Developed by Nihilistic in collaboration with series creator Insomniac, Resistance: Burning Skies is a "no compromise first-person shooter" that aims to headline the benefits to action games that the handheld's dual analogue sticks offer.
While the graphics looked rather gorgeous, it was being presented without a video out display, meaning we likely did not get a complete picture without going hands-on. What we did see was some nice uses of the Vita's touch screen capabilities.
Draw a line on the screen to automatically lock onto a series of targets, or tap anywhere to lob a grenade in that direction. Sixaxis controls within the Vita allow for players to tilt the system to peek over cover.
